Can I Fall Off My Spiritual Path, Take Steps Back, or Lose Momentum?

It can be easy as humans living in a modern society to apply linear thinking and ways of measuring success to every aspect of life, but not everything can be measured in this way.

When it comes to personal development and spiritual growth, evolution is anything but linear.

While we need discipline in our practices, rituals, routines and habits, that’s only one side of the coin. We also need those flowy periods where we integrate the changes and put all of those good practices to the test. Perhaps embracing and accepting this dichotomy is to honor the sacred masculine and feminine within us.

Whether it’s been a week, year, or decade, I believe we have a rich opportunity for inner discovery, healing and evolution when we “fall off” our path or step away from our practices and discipline.

When life throws a lot at us, we get distracted, or we fall back into old habits, we get to TRULY see- how does that foundation of spiritual practices or self development work support us when we need it the most? When conditions are less than ideal, or even abysmal?

How are you showing up a little bit better than you would have in the past? How are you being a little more kind, loving or compassionate to yourself or others this time around?

As spiritual beings having a human experience, I think it’s not only normal to fall out of our habits at times, it’s actually a rich part OF evolving spiritually when you take the time to reflect on the ways you’ve grown.

So if you ever fell like you've stepped away from your practices, remember:

This, too, is growth! You're doing GREAT. And you're exactly where you're supposed to be.
