While I tend to prefer working with the "built-in features" that we all have as humans to access unordinary states of consciousness through shamanic drumming, connecting with the elements, art, movement, etc, I believe in the power of psychedelic and sacred medicines to heal and transform us as well, and I think they're wonderful to work with occasionally.
This is why I’m sharing about my experience with my friends at Soultech Sanctum (a 508 c1a Madison-based sacred medicine church) who hosts a medicine man named John every so often to offer toad medicine ceremonies.
John is a psychiatrist turned full time toad medicine facilitator that trained extensively with the Sororan Desert shamans. He travels the world serving medicine in ceremony.
Toad medicine, AKA Bufo medicine's active compound is 5-MEO-DMT, and is known as "The God Molecule". It's technically not a psychedelic, but it mimics one. It is extremely potent- moreso that Ayahausca is what I’ve read (but far shorter of an experience, without the purging).
I sat in ceremony with John when Soultech Sanctum hosted him in January of 2024, and it was a deeply profound, extremely helpful experience that gave me the clarity, encouragement, and the road map for pursuing a vision that I had kind of lost touch with over the years. I felt like I was in excellent hands with John, Soultech, and the other support people present during my ceremony.
While I do not know much about the medicine, I know that it changed me in ways that I will be forever grateful. I've seen how it's changed the lives of my friends that also sat with John. Many people say the experience completely changed their lives in beautiful ways.
So while I'm telling you about my experience, please do not confuse this with "Jessica is recommending I take toad medicine". because I am not recommending that for you. What I AM recommending is that if this speaks to you, do your research. Learn about the vast array of experiences that have been reported, the potential health risks, etc.
