A Fun Way to Integrate Meaningful Experiences So They Don’t Fade

A pillar of shamanism is navigating unordinary states of consciousness to bring back things like healing, guidance, clarity, and the energy needed to make tangible change in 3D life; to integrate the information into ourselves, and our lives.

Since time moves fast and it can be easy to forget the magic that certain experiences gifted us (be it time in Nature, with another person, a shamanic journey, mediation, etc), I began making videos to better help me capture and integrate the experiences, and this practice has really nurtured me.

Along the lines of the “Life is like an onion” metaphor used in regards to healing, I think that most (all?) of our experiences are like the proverbial onion. Re-watching these videos helps me access the significant layers of the experience that I couldn’t see in the moment. Its my way of feasting on, and digesting my experience fully; like Vulture picking a bone clean. No bit goes unsavored.

Re-watching the videos also helps me to ground into the 7 sensory experience of those moments, helping me to strengthen new neural pathways.

I am reminded of something I read that intrigued me, along the lines of: We often say that growth comes through the painful and challenging times, but it doesn’t have to be that way- that depth can come through the joyful times, too. I know there is more to it than this, but I'm sure part of the trick to experiencing that deep life changing growth through the “highs” is to intentionally imprint and reinforce those experiences into our body and being.

A practical way to start

  1. If you don’t want to post your videos publicly, use an app like Inshot to edit your video, add music, voiceover, still photos, etc, then save them in a folder on your phone.

  2. If we are working together in a group or one-on-one setting, I highly encourage you to share your videos with me, or with our group. It’s uncanny the dots that get connected for people through sharing and witnessing.

Here's my latest creation. If you do this, or if you start doing this- I’d love to know- how does the practice support you?
