Sacred Family Altar Series: Co-Creating Pieces That Express Our Gratitude and Love

  • Unity of Madison 601 Tomkins Drive Madison, Wisconsin 53716 United States of America (map)

A family altar is an  intentional space. It is a uniting and powerful place where the hopes, dreams, intentions and prayers of each family member are honored. This is a place to foster deeper connections, and seek peace, inspiration, love, support, guidance and clarity.

Altar building is a fun, creative, sacred and intuitive practice. Meagan and Jessica will share a bit about the purpose and use of altars before guiding your family though this Creative Experience. if you don’t have an altar yet, this event will be the perfect time to begin creating one.

We will create altar pieces that express our gratitude and love for anything you desire. Based on requests from our families, the option will be given to focus specifically on gratitude and love for ancestors, loved ones, and special animals that have passed on, but this does not have to be your focus.

You’ll be guided through the process of:

  • Sharing what you wish to honor with your love and gratitude.

  • Sharing the meaning behind the items you’ve brought (see “Bring”)

  • Charging the energy of your altar item through a short guided journey.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Honor who or what it is that you are creating your altar item for.

  • Carry that energy of gratitude, love and connection into your daily lives.

  • Connect with your altar at home, both as a family, and individually.

Once we complete the practice, we’ll move into celebration with a potluck to munch and connect.

This is a great activity for all ages, although some kids may be more ready for this than others. We will try to keep the teaching to a minimum, and focus on the experiential creative side as much as possible.

Meet Meagan

Through Massage, Yoga, Using the Breath, Meditation, sound and other means of connecting with spirit, Meagan intuitively connects clients with the tools to nurture divine growth and expansion.

In recent years, Meagan has been developing skills and using tools that have allowed her to move through her own growth and transition into being a mother and integrating her new role into her expression as Meagan. Yoga and Massage are two elements that have supported Meagan in her growth and expansion and are core offerings of Temple Tree.

Meagan is currently moving through programs exploring psychic development and the use of the voice as a vibrational healing modality and is already incorporating some of these tools into work with clients.

Meet Jessica here

Creating a Safe Container

To foster a strong community, it’s essential to establish a safe container, which paves the way for deeper, more authentic connections.

  • Sales & Marketing: We value authentic community building. Sales and marketing activities should be avoided. This is not a space to talk about your business, to hand out flyers, etc. Doing so creates doubt and confusion around the “marketer’s” intention and authenticity for true connection.

  • Privacy & Confidentiality: All personal information shared during gatherings, including discussions, group work, and contact lists, will remain confidential. Our contact lists are for community building only and will not be used for marketing or shared outside the group. Photography, audio, or video recording is generally not allowed unless announced; any exceptions will be discussed in class.

  • Intentional Communication: The space that we co-create is a sacred one. It is here that we can share any and all of our spiritual experiences and ideas, where we can connect on a deeper, more vulnerable level. To honor this gift of intentional space, please refrain from topics of politics and such during our gatherings.

  • Recreational use of substances: should be avoided the day of our gathering. For your own spiritual development, refraining from substances for 24 hours prior, and after, is also recommended.
